Hey..looking at your photos. .. it looks like you all had a great time at Arisaig.
I was delighted to see you knew how to party on holiday..and my thanks go to you all for making a Gurnard feel very welcome. It was also a great pleasure meeting A1an in person.
I didn’t take many photos ..but here are the few I took.
I guess the party day started off pretty normal .. boats were launched in the morning at Mallaig harbour ....
And while you guys n gals took photos of me ..I took photos of you ...
Then it was time to introduce you to Hairy Mary who looks after all visitors to Loch Nevis ... who pay her homage. Im delighted to see she served you up a load of lobsters instead of the curse of crabs that some unfortunates get
The gods were kind too .. allowing us to speed silently across millpond waters ...
with just enough depth to enter the upper basin ..without grinding skeg ends on shallow gravel bottoms
Then in the evening ... golden fires were lit as the sun sank below the sea
And although you forgot to bring the kitchen sink ..you did remember the washing machine drum to hold the warming embers ... as we scoffed BBQ mackerel and meat .. (I confess I left the lettuce) washed down with lashings of fine wine and dark gravy with some strange tasting salad dressing called rusty nails ?
Yup ...we partied like true pagan worshipers until the moon came up ..and eventually put our lights out
Perhaps it was the rusty nail that hit me on the head ..but I had some strange dream that murder was afoot that night ..
So Im glad to see you all survived the holiday..and had a great time.
Best Regards
The Gurnard
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.
