Exmouth by RIB?

Is Exmouth a RIB friendly destination for a lunch stop?

My pilot shows mooring at Exmouth Marina, but nothing about a visitor mooring, or walk ashore pontoon. It's a decent morning's run from Dartmouth, but I want a lunch stop ashore for an hour or so. Can I get this at Exmouth?

Shame if not as there are no places otheriose to stop East of Torquay for a long way - can't step ashore at Teignmouth ....Depart Torbay, Eastbound, next RIB acessible harbour Portland??

Hi there, lakelandterrier.

There are normally visitor berths available at the marina (£5 for 4 hours last year). Give the harbourmaster a call on ch.14 or 01395 269 314 before you get there and they'll direct you.

Alternatively, if you venture a little further up the Exe, there are two excellent (and very rib friendly) eateries - riverexecafe.com and turfpub.net.

There is also Topsham even further up, but access is difficult at low tides and there is no easy public/visitor mooring or pontoon that I'm aware of.

Hope this helps..

+1 for the Turf: has its own pontoon, good food and a large garden so you can keep an eye on things.

RIBase
It's a very tidal area, if I remember correctly, with large mud flats so watch the timings.

Is the pier at Dawlish available? A great pub there for food but only ever been in by road.

Dawlish Warren is great too but would need to anchor off the beach.

Don't forget Lyme Regis and West Bay before you get to Portland....

We had a cracking run up to Exmouth from Brixham today - great conditions, bur quite chilly in the wind. Arrived Exmouth a bit before low tide, but when then they buoyed channel started showing only 5' depth, thought this is not the time be be exploring new river! (+ no other boats within sight!) Seeing the breakers over Pole Sands not far off the port bow didn't inspire onfidence......will plan to get there on a rising tide for the first foray up the river.
Still a great run there and back. Good day's ribbing - 25kt avg speed 0.74l / nm even better!
