Faded Toobs

So I know this might have been done to death but need some ideas.

I have 13 yo blue tubes on my XS. They hold air perfectly and not a patch in site so I’m trying to avoid renewing them.

The bow is faded (the rest isn’t too bad) so i cleaned with TFR and it seemed to fade them even more!

I’ve used August race UV over the top which has brought them up ok, still a little faded, but it just doesn’t last and as soon as it rains they fade again.

Try 303 on them

I’ve tried RIb revive before. Didn’t do much to the fading.

The conditioner probably brought them up as well as August Race but doesn’t last long at all.

Also tried 303 which has given the best results but can’t seem to get the colour back.

Not sure if the colour is too far gone now

If the top layer has oxidised, the only way to get colour back is to knock back the top layer by aggressive cleaning. I’d be tempted to stick with the 303 & live with it. If the tubes hold air & are sound, you’ve nothing to gain by attacking them with chemicals, apart from a touch of vanity. Wear the ageing as a badge of honour.
