Farthest From The Coast

Given the Scilly Isles are about 20 miles off the mainland.....what's the furthest anybody has been off the coast?
I've RIBed to the Isles, but at 20 away it as only ever 10 away from the coast.
Farthest RIB?

For me, Erin and Martini: Paris, at just over 80 nautical miles from the coast as the crow flies (and considerably longer as the river winds!).

Nice one Biff. How are you? I was out with Dr Jan last night and as expected it all got rather messy and it was a Monday School night!!!
Anyway. the furthest that anyone can be from any land anywhere in the world is 1750 miles and that is in the Pacific. I do intend to get this record next year.

I'm doing alright Al, not drinking or eating much in the way of solid food but I'm not worried too much, it will come, I've lost a lot of weight, got the same body I had 30 years ago, all them years of abuse gone to waste, the way I look at it is I can do it all over again

I make it 35 miles from St. Helier on Google Earth. It does feel 'out there' and you can't always see the coast of France if the visibility is poor. Amazing lighthouse by the way. You used to be able to get inside if you took a wheel brace with you as it used to fit the door lock. Nowadays the door is sensor protected via a radio link to Cap Frehel. Anyway, here's a funny video I just watched:

We did an 80mile crossing ramsgate to holland the other weekend but I guess due to the angle we approached the continental coast we were never really 40 miles offshore.

I suppose the furthest I have been from land is the crossing between Lands End and Kinsale, a journey I have done several times now-but that is only 144 miles, so 72 from land.
Pathetic really compared to some Alan Priddy has made.

Mind you, in my defence, they were NAUTICAL miles.
