When we cruise Poly we try to use marinas as much as possible and therefore have access to showers and preferably a nice comfortable bed.the new cabin will be professionally lined,we have a porta-potty if we cruise with our better halves!
The main use will be as a "get out of the weather" bolt hole for a quick brew.We are keeping the rear tent arrangement but with a modified base support,If we can't find any accomodation Ross can sleep in the tent and I can snore loudly in the cabin

Any idea on the weight of new console? Are you cutting into deck/bilge or keeping it as is?

The new arrangement will definitely be heavier than the old set up but till we get it lined we won't know by how much. The much more important issue is the balance, our boat has a 500ltr fuel tank(that's half a ton of fuel!) so it's a heavy old girl. We will balance her up using a roller under the keel before final fit-out
We also need to make sure that the cabin floor is level for and aft,but we can only do that when she is afloat then we will fit a false cabin floor to compensate. We won't be cutting into the bilge because our long range fuel tank runs the whole length

Nice, will you also be fitting the spray hood as per the 860/890 Shearwaters ? For us this has been amazing in poor weather as you can run at 30 knots in the rain and four people are sheltered behind this "pop up wheel house"

Yes we hope to fit the spray hood we were very impressed with it when we cruised with T G both on Blue Ray and Black Adder it is a superb addition

Good luck with the refit, Mike.
One word though-don't be tempted to run at sea with someone hiding in the cabin! Instant nausea inducing to say the least!
We had someone try that in Cyanide-never again!!

It certainly helps clear the marine mortgage though - pack 'em in, I say.

Hard to beat the old pram-top on a dirty day - but keep some Rain-x handy for the screen!

We went with the separate joystick control on the plotter to give us a bit more control in heavy weather.Have you two put Crusader to bed for the winter?or are you still cruising that glorious Clyde.

Unfortunately our season was cut short due to work commitments. The old girl was pulled out of the water mid august and hasnt been back in so the plan is to get her back in the water very early next year.
Cant wait to see how you progress with this!
