Fastest RIB in the world.....
I saw 'Velocity' in Torquay marina the other day, a fairly large Ribquest with 3 x 300Hp Yam's hung off the back. It's in town for the MDL Torquay 'marina day' this weekend.
Not sure if the claim of 'fastest passenger RIB in the world' is accurate, but it will be interesting to see how it handles the 20mph westerlies forecast for the bay tomorrow.

I wonder what speed they actually operate at with a full complement of passengers.
I’d be surprised if it’s significantly greater than a similar sized boat with a more modest all out speed.

Some good videos of it running in the flat. None in rough. Modified banana shark hull I believe

About right I've been in a 9.5m ribquest with twin 300 verardos on the Humber and clocked up 70 mph from memory

Dont think I would go on a ride in it, just sounds like an accident waiting to happen, is there really a need for a passenger rib to go that fast ? Boats can be dangerous enouth without the need for extreme speed on water.

Agree with you Boris, accident waiting to happen with some of these RIBs going full speed in other than controlled conditions.
If I had the cash, a Goldfish rib with dreadnought bow would be up there, speed, but importantly, comfort with proper suspension and wrap round seats.

I concur. Someone should swim ahead of it waving a red flag...

their going to drive to the conditions as we all do just because it's capable dosnt mean its at full chat when its rough or fully loaded & lets be honest if you had your grubby maulers on the throttle you'd be winding her up big style you couldnt resist.

I like speed, wish I could afford twins.
I’d worry about the other passengers being clowns in a commercial scenario

I have had the pleasure, in a less than perfect day on the straits. Touched 60knt solid as a rock! Honestly never been on such a stable feeling rib! The owner was at the helm and it was very impressive indeed. [emoji106]

http://jj-racing.com/racing.htmlInteresting fact about raven ribs. They have a scorpions bow glued on the front of a different hull.
Fastest recorded rib

It's overtaken me on the Straits a few times like I was stood still when I've been at 40 knots. It looks extremely stable and the company are very professional. I've been told it can hit 90mph !
It broke the round Anglesey record in just over an hour and that's about 85 miles so that's some indication of its ability. There's a similar looking twin engine by a different company now as well.
