Fat Ass Rib
The Guardia Civil seized a drugs rib Yesterday in Spain and towed it into Puerto Duquesa.
The hull is reputed to be 40 to 46 feet long..........AND..............it has 5......YES FIVE! 200hp 4 stroke Yammies on the back!
(It could be selling for a knock-down price in a couple of months.)

Wonder what RIB it is? Doesn't look like a Crompton - interesting looking hull form.

The bottom of the engines legs don't look too healthy, huge chunks out of them.

forgive the hair split but aren't the v6 200hp two stroke not four stroke???
interesting set up: notice the counter rotating props and the outer two engines have no zinc fin.??
How do you manoveure a boat like that then? just use the outer two for "spinning on engines"
The centre skeg has had a wallop too.
With a twin i always thought that the second engine gives 20% drag so does this mean that one of these engines is actually doing nothing ie 20% x 5 when the boat is at full chat?

Bullet holes?
Fuel bill must be silly and there's a limit to how much juice you can carry on a RIB surely, must eat into the drugs space!
And just imagine the heartbreak if you hit a floating bit of heavy timber just below the surface and removed five 200hp outboards in one go...
Mind you a couple of tonnes of heroin would probably pay for a new engine or two if you did get through

In the gallery section there's a thread about Crompton Marine's 18m RIB with 8 x 250 outboards.
