Fibreglass bow platform

Hi guys, my Valiant DR750 is in for tube replacement in Valencia and that's a horror story for another thread. In the meantime I would like to add the fibre platform roller on the bow but have no idea what the official term is for them. Can anyone help with that and if you have one or know of one for sale or where I can get them so much the better!

Tube diameter 60cm.

Thanks in advance

You are looking for a GRP bow fairlead for a RIB.

You might be able to get the GRP moulded locally to your exact spec and then fix the stainless of your choice to it?

Thank you Will,

very kind of you to respond. Time is of the essence sadly as the trailer I am using is costing me 150 eurp per week and the boat is now 500km away. My hope is to find something radius'd correctly and as you say separately purchase a decent roller for them to assemble. I would courier the whole to Valencia then. Their price for this supply only was 500 euro!!!!

Ian

Googling "GRP bow fairlead for a RIB" doesn't come up with much at all.

I had my eye on that one and was asking the seller what the radius of curve was. Suppose I shot myself in the foot asking that question here?

Lol! It's funny. There's a nautical term for everything attached to a boat but not this. Descriptive terms is as close as we can get.........

Thanks Cgoing - I am hoping for the boat to be finished in ten days and transporting here in time would be the problem there as you are in the USA but it's appreciated. That said I suppose it could be retrofitted at a later date so yes please get photo if you would.

Thanks again

Well, those terms are for very old features built up over time. RIBs themselves are toddlers on the timescale of nautical terminology, and these fibreglass things are both unusual and even newer. Its possible that they have more utility in the "med" where "bow to mooring" is much more common than in UK/US - but that presumably means they English is the least likely language to have a common name for them!

In the yachty world I guess such a thing might be referred to as a pulpit (although usually has a "fence" around it to stop you falling in)

Fair point Poly. Sure there weren't so many "Bimini's" back in the 17th century though lol!

Thanks Jeff. They look like a luxury supplier. I have an option to purchase here in Spain by the re-tuber but prices are already high. Really was hoping to find an alternative (even second hand) option but thank you.
