I didn't have that much time today but I made a start on adding the basic shape of the hull to the stern as we need something to build onto, I should get this part finished tomorrow. Overall the length of the moulded hull is going to increase by 1m and the beam by 10cm.

Any intention of deepening the "V", it looks a bit shallow to me, or is it just the photo angle?
Loving the thread BTW, but I do wonder how much of the original boat will remain. I take it that most of the work you've done so far has now been binned?

I think our definitions of time are somewhat different. Between work, kids and the dog I'm lucky to scrape 20 mins together each week, now 18 months into a transom replacement...

Construction of the worlds worst looking porch continues

Basic shape is now in place for the hull extension, next is to profile the edges + fill and fair this section before doing the chine modifications. The original hull has some quite alarming discrepancies on the planing surfaces and I can deal with these when screeding in the new sections to blend it all together.

Yes that will be the plug from which I make a mould, there are so many changes that it is easier to just make a mould and then lay up a new hull. The original hull needed some bracing anyway so that wasn't wasted materials, I will cut the fuel tank baffles back out and use them in the new hull. There are some wasted materials but in the long run this approach makes more sense for me and future plans.

I managed to get some work done on the hull today between other jobs. My friend turned up later this afternoon and we discussed the modifications to be undertaken, he is going to do some calculations on the larger jobs as they fundamentally alter the hull design so they need more than my wonky eyes and a bendy ruler to guess at them

Lots of other projects have been keeping me busy...

Lots of other projects have been keeping me very busy !! so only had a bit of time to spend on the rib. Work is still continuing with the complete transformation of the hull ready for a new hull mould to be made. Today I got on with cutting off some of the old chines, they are not required for the new design so had to go !! Got the cengar out to cut through the GRP and 30 min later there were bits of the filler inside the chine flying all over the workshop as I found the quickest way to deal with it was using a hammer and chisel !! The other pic shows the new shape of the bow, chines, side rails, planing pad etc etc all just the basic shape so far with still lots of finishing work to be done yet.
