Fixing leak with inner sealant?

So i just picked up a 1986 Zodiac mk2 12 foot 6 for 250$ and it has a leak at the end of the tube on the end cap. It has what looks like a bunch a patches already on it so I was just curious if the sealant that you just put inside the tube and move the tube around would work alright in this case? Or if you you guys had any suggestions too that would be great!
Thx Mark

if it already has a load of patches there then i would suspect that the original repair was not up to much. consider stripping off the patches and starting again with one big patch which has plenty of overlap and paying attention to how you prepare it.
