Flare demonstration -- Scotland

I have just received my Loch Lomond boat registration paperwork for annual renewal. Accompanying the paperwork was a flyer promoting the following joint RNLI/National Park event which I thought might be of interest to people here:

Flare Demonstration - Monday 14th July 2008 7-9pm at Duncan Mills Memorial Slipway (Balloch).

There are also a number of "Lifejacket clinics" being run the first Sunday of May, June, July and August (10-4pm) as well as a general water safety say on the 22nd June 2008 - 11-4pm where the rangers boats and the luss rescue boat will be on display.

Been to a few flare demos and it's really good to actually see them being fired in a controlled environment!

We did one of these a while ago at my old sailing club and it's amazing how hard to have to hit the hand-helds to get them to ignite.

I'll certainly be going to that!
