Flare disposal

Folks if you get new flares this Christmas then dispose of the old ones sensibly Marine flare explodes at Waterbeach recycling centre - BBC News

Or just use them New Years Eve..

(but no parachute light use near the shore please, because it will trigger the lifeboat guys to be called out for a search).

Oh stop! *What's this stringy bit for? WOOMPF!*

I would never risk a third party injury with flares and carefully neutralise them myself....

I'll add that I wouldn't consider letting off a parachute flare (again ... )

Having done a course on the correct use pyrotechnics years ago which I found very beneficial, i always discharged mine on bonfire night or did and considered it as a refresher course, anyone can buy flares and never discharge them until the s... Hits the fan which isn't ideal so my take on it is I discharge inland on a night when they cannot be singled out and follow the instructions with as close to the expiry date as possible.
