This should inspire Nugents next build. I'm thinking something 9m with twin jet engines to get it supersonic....

I love those things, lots of stuff on you tube. I wonder what type of pilots licence you need. Can you just get one for microlites or would you have to go the whole hog? They would be handy for rescue and awesome in a larger size.

I can see how it makes way on water just like any air boat but don't see where it gets the lift from to fly
Am I being dumb or missing something?
Or is there a microlight wing not shown in the picture?

Have a look on you tube, Polaris Flying Rib. Wing like a large hang glider. Think they call them ultralite.

I work with a guy who microlights and he reckons they should be OK with a microlight licence. Cost him about £4k to qualify to fly "solo" though.

Ouch makes PB 2 seem like a bargain! Would never have expected 4k to learn to fly one of those

The full private pilot's licence is probably about £8,000 nowadays (and a few thousand again every year after that to keep a decent number of hours up). For a commercial licence and a useful type rating, add another zero...
