foot straps

After a bit of a bucking bronco ride on the SR I have decided footstraps are in order.
Are there any recommends for the limited deck space either side of console for an SR4?
I had actually considered bolting a pair of Crocs in place but that wouldn't be right, right?

I had the same problem,so I bought some dakine ones, they fit just!!!

Make a world of difference though, I feel nice and secure now.

I sourced them from a windsurfing shop for about £15 for the pair. They have an adjustable Velcro strap and I have just screwed them to the deck with self tappers dipped in sikaflex. So far so good...

I'll take a pic Tomorrow if you would like to see where I have placed them?

Simon, would be good to see a pic.......and the DaKine idea is a good one.......
Are they padded?
Essentially what I'm trying to get at is that.....are they meant for bare feet, surf boots or will they accept a sailing boot?

No worries, but whatever you buy make sure you can fit your feet in with your boating boots! Sounds obvious but try a few and you will see what I mean

Make sure you can't get your feet in actually!

If things go wrong you want just your toes in the toe strap so you can get them out quickly and not break an ankle!!

it's worth noting that an SR4 has quite a thin floor. Screw down footstraps might pull out. I'd use the glue down type Henshaws sell,or do without.

I hadn't thought about that. ollyit replaced the deck on my searider with some hefty ply so I don't think mine are going to pull out.

I did go for the padded ones, but they have got quite a bit of adjustment. In summer I go bare foot and in winter I wear wetsuit boots, both of these fit no problem, but not sure about sailing boots, my Wellies won't fit

A friend who windsurfs a lot helped me out, and he said the correct fit was across just behind the toes, similar to a flipflop as any further back could break your ankles!!

I had them on my Valiant DR490. They are a good help however they may not improve the safety suitation on the boat as much as you think. They are B-tards for causing tripping. When I re-located my Console I did not re-attach them to the deck as I felt that they created a greater hazard than they cured
