Polwart - I have notified the RYA. Will report back here what they say.
Incidentally, when I am instructing I always suggest that the Vessel Call Sign and MMSI number are kept on laminates adjacent to the set, perhaps on the Emergency Procedures card. Being geriatric, I have problems remembering my boats name, never mind the call sign or MMSI!
