Well done to you both, great achievement. Out of interest what are the navigation issues with the Staights? I know Nelson said it was the most challenging stetch of water in the world, but what does that mean in our world of GPS and depth sounders?

Thanks for that.
The Swellies are the only real hazard, other than shifting sandbanks. However there is a straight forward route through involving an extended 'S' bend to clear the rocks, or a zig zag is probably a better description. Plenty of charted marks and the transits are simple to follow so once you have been through a couple of times at cruising speed it isn't a major issue at high speed.
The current makes it interesting at slow speed so in Nelsons day it would have been very interesting in a masted warship! Pick you time carefully.

well done boys - a really good looking crew when the helmet visors are down-
and you had the advantage of the best B&B in Wales to go home to!

Cheers Mugshot, Dave took it at around 08:30. You're right, it is stunning.
The reflection is split from the bridge by the mist, the water through the Straits was like this all the way on the record run itself.

I posted some about a week or so ago from a trip up the Cleddau where the water is that still, the reflection is so perfect it can feel like you're flying. Beautiful.
Congrats on the record by the way

Just found this on the RYA Records page. Slower average than we calculated but they are the boss!
