Fuel around Felixstowe

I'm looking at options of longer trips from Felixstowe and I have a problem finding seaside petrol. I'm departing from SYH (with its extortionate petrol price), but where is the next petrol station going south? Internet told me that Brightlingsea has petrol, but having rang them I'm not so sure any longer.

A very nice lady told me that I'll be sent to a fuel barge, but there was no distinction between petrol and diesel - we could only communicate as "fuel for the boat".

I don't want to get there to discover I don't have enough petrol to get back.

Done that, internet claims diesel only. Having said that, if Sunday looks ok then I might go there and have a look myself!
Should I give you a call?

Titchmarsh is diesel only on the pontoon. Nearest petrol to the marina is up at the petrol station by the Frinton gates, definitely a car ride away.

Can't take the tank from the console :-(

Internet tells me Bradwell should have petrol, can someone confirm that?

I just want a nice run with a pub and petrol at the end :-)

Out of interest, how much is petrol at SYH?

Probably better off taking a jerry can each time you go to the boat.

I've not checked myself on the pump, I'm assuming it's £1.9 per litre.

The question is asked in a context of making a longer trip - longer trip needs refuelling before heading back home ;-)

ID:	120524 You are looking for a YY (or NY) in the fuel column. A < sign means walk to petrol station is less than 1 mile.

How big's your tank, and what range does that give?

you could always carry a further supply in 20l containers and refuel as needed.

85L in the console and 30L spare Hulk.
My very unsubstantiated guess is 20L per hour (Mariner 90 4-stroke carb).
I never ran the console tank dry, so 85 is from the tank's nameplate.

Speed? If it's like today then 12kts max.
If I assume 1/3 fuel there, 1/3 back and 1/3 spare then I think I need fuel at the other end.

I calculate my fuel of L/NM not L/hr. When calculating range I find that easier. This checked over time by full tank to full tank.

My 4stroke 140 does c.0.8l / Nm on a cruising run of averge 22-25kt. rougher weather = less efficiency

On 1l/NM you have a range of c. 115 NM and c. 80 Nm/trip with 33% reserve. How far do you want to go, and could you not carry a further 30l external?
