Fuel in hamble
If any of you are like me, and like to head down to the boat after a stressful day in the office... or a hot day in the office... infact, after any day in the office... then you will probably find sometimes you need fuel....
The fuel pontoon at Port Hamble closes normally between 5 and 5:30, but I found last night that the fuel pontoon at the Premier Marina (was moodys) now does fuel up to about 8pm!
He said if you were to call ahead just to make sure, it shouldnt be a problem.
The telephone number is 01489 885000

Is it premier marinas that sell fuel at cost? or is that only open to people who keep their boat in a premier marina?

I asked the same question last night.
Fuel there is £1.04/litre rather than £1.17/litre at mdl.
If you either have a berth, or leave your boat there over night, you can get fuel at cost. - which is I think 98p/litre - not bad at all!

Or for 93.7 at the jet station round the corner from drivers, plus a 2p per litre money off coupon.

I'm sure it was more than that the last time I was there...
And my boat lives on the water, so it means I have to take fuel cans.. becomes a pain. Jet is a ~£12/100litre saving, I agree, and more often than night, A very kind friend who has a unit in drivers gives me a hand to collect fuel from Jet. Just saying if you want to pop out at night, it makes life a bit easier being able to grab it on the water

Salcombe fuel pontoon, two weeks ago charging £1.35 a litre! And I watched someone filling past £150, how I loved my 25hp 4 stroke, at leaast for a minute or two.

Jolly Sailor
The Jolly Sailor used to be a " free house" is it still? and do they still host the "Burseldon Regatta" many many fond memories of that pub.( some blured) Pillow fights on a greasy pole, water skying on a barn door etc. The pain was you had to park your car at the station and walk down the footpath or go in by boat and tie up along their rickety dock.

104p per litre?
- That's not bad at all!
Even as an MDL berth-holder, it still costs 105.3p per litre at Port Hamble, after a 10% discount!!!
It cost me £335 to top up Aries IV's fuel tank last week, but it would probably have cost more than the £3 or so saving from getting fuel in Moody's to get up there!
Thanks for the info, Benc.
Regards,
Chris.

After speaking to some peeps from the MDL Marina in Hamble with the fuel they will actually stay open whilst there are customers wanting fuel. I was told if you ring up in advance saying your coming down they will try and hang on for you with the latest being about 7pm.
Although it came from a member of staff there I don't know how reliable this is.

Just called them again, to make sure somebody is there so I can get fuel tonight, and they have now told me that they should be serving fuel 24/7!
Definately a useful nugget if you are a night owl like me - Sometimes gets to the early hours, stressed to the eyeballs - and fancy a blast - now I can
