Look up the previous pro-sport thread, "Dangers" from Jersey just took delivery of his and it was very late (3-4 months late).

He has a very long order book and has fallen behind due to glue problems with the tubes, engine delivery delays and I guess in-house production delays too.

I have a 2yr old 7.5m and have been trying to get hold of Jason Norman for a couple of weeks to do a maintenance job to no avail, and I live in the same island!!!

Sorry but I have got to reply to this thread.
I have a Prosport 6.5 Diesel, The rib was only a week late and Jason kept me informed as to the progress of The rib.
I have had NO problems with the rib only one small one with the engine
That was sorted by myself in no time. Having just returned from the Rib Raid
( best event of the year) The Prosport has had quite a bit of attention and most of the comments
made are something like “for the price a little delay in delivery has to be contended with”.

We can all find fault but if you need big company service you need to pay big company prices
And then just hope for the best.

Just for the record our yacht club had the same problem with an order for a new safety boat
And that was from Tornado, need I say more.

I am happy with my Pro-Sport, but I am having trouble getting hold of them to do some work on my boat. this is because they are very very busy.

Just taken delivery of mine. About a month late due to tube delay caused apparently by glue problems and lack of material in my colour. Total time from order to delivery was only three months though so I think I've been one of the lucky ones . Even regular visits to their workshop didn't speed things up, although it did confirm that there was gradual progress and ensured that what I was being told over the phone was in fact true.

I do not have a pro sport but from your comments here and my previous experience with a certain RIB manufatcurer I have to assume that many (if not all) of the RIB manufacturers have similar/same problems i.e. glue, fabric, slow production due to too many orders etc.

Do they all buy from the same suppliers and do all RIBs produced in the same yard? Just woindering.

On a slightly more serious note, the problem is no one wants to pay for quality. If a rib manufacturer doubled there build time and increased quality control then the costs would also double. Would you pay 2x for a Falcon if the quality was improved ? or would you go and look at Scorpion instead if the price was similar ?

Prosports seem to do well selling a basic well built boat with no frills at a good price which people can afford, but if Scorpion were the only manufacturer in town then how many of us could afford there prices ?

Just for some information, Prosport build their own fibreglass hulls, consoles, seats etc and their tubes are supplied by a Uk company which I understand only supplies one other boat builder. Of course, all the little accessories, like grab handles, bow cleats, engines etc come from normal supplers, but I doubt there are significant supply problems with these parts.

I don't mind waiting if the product is good and you get the personal service. I dislike companies who will not modify or allow changes to the standard package. I can understand why they would take that attitude, but a little bit of flexibility goes a long way.

Having seen and been on an 8 mtr SCORPION with the massive spaces and storage areas, lush cousions and upholstery, great forward and aft sun decks, radios that do not come lose when you hit waves!! , no hair line cracks on the floor deck would go for the SCORPION instead (but the 8 mtr SCORPION with a 250bhp engine costs more like 4 FALCONS rather than 2 - Euro 40K-45K second hand and Euro 65-70K new).

Erin SCORPIONS and FALCONS and many other RIB and hard boat builders I could mention do excatly what Pro Sport do. I don't think Pro Sport invented the wheel.

I think you will find it is due to tubes not turning up as everyone is in short supply at the moment.

Just nip down and see him if I can catch him on a weekly basis then you should be able to aswell. Nipped down there last week to have my dinghy repaired before going to Alderney and it was done the same day.

Dunno what all the fuss is about. If Jasons not about Marc usually answers the phone.

Who is their tube supplier?????

Olmec were I believe but there does seem to be some sort of rift going on somewhere - anyone going to give us the full picture?
