Gazelle Hotel

Booked in the Gazelle on the Straits this Friday and Saturday. Obviously we were planning on some fine boating over the weekend.

XC weather and met check were both forecasting ok wind and weather and are now both forecasting a deluge on Saturday.

Its all guess work. Anyone local want to take a stab at a forecast, will it be worth a 4/5 hour round trip tow? With that rain forecast its looking more like a weekend drinking, which is fine but not the plan

Can't think what I was thinking planning a weekend in July and expecting nice weather

We did the same thing last weekend Neil. Admittedly the weather didn't look as bad as this saturday, but rain was still forecast. We stuck with it because we'd already paid for the campsite and in fact it stayed dry until after we'd recovered at 5pm. Threw it down when we were pitching the tent like, but we had an ok day on th water in the end.

All you need is for the weather front to come in a bit quick or a bit slow and you get a decent day. Failing that, put your drysuits on!

It pissed down 75% of the time we were in Oban and we still enjoyed it.

whatever it does you'll be fine in the straits, but looking at the forecast it's not as bad as earlier forecasts, so like Dan says just take the dry suits n go for it, if all else fails you can prop the bar up with HPs mum n dad

The Straits seem to have there own micro-climate, the weather is quite often fantastic when its rubbish just a few miles away (and vise versa).

And a bad day on the water is better than a good day mowing the lawn.

Oi!

The olds I'm sure will help you prop the bar up!! They're down too.

Weather is as you know changeable. Worth going down anyway this time of year, it's not like storms are forecast.

Mr smith is back on station after some toob rubber trouble after the round island.

We are in the same boat as you (excuse the pun) as we have booked accommodation this weekend. The forecast does seem to be getting better but could also get worse but we are going anyway as sh1t happens and life's too short

Might see you out and about on the straits

Gareth

Yeah, he's no reprobate, he's too "grounded" to be one of those who would "go with the flow" and follow reprobates! ;-) LOL
