Gecko - "seconds" back on Ebay
contrary to popular belief, I have no affiliation with Gecko, other than a fondness for their products!

Well after being pelleted by hail on our Scottish jollies I have relented and bought myself a Gecko Mk11 for £130 just a bit pisked off cos the wifes only cost 90 quid as mentioned at the beginning of the thread.
Still not a bad price me thinks......grab one before they all go

I've tried all the usual combos of Goggles-Hats ski-masks Face off ect...and for my money when it's wet cold and or Rough!...not to mention Hail!! ..nothing comes close.I know they aren't cheap, but in the Grand scheme of Boating and all the other associated costs the benefits IMO are more than worth it!...I don't know anyone who's gone backwards once they've tried them

Not decrying the benefits, but having looked at them I just can't see how the price can be justified. I wouldn't buy one for myself and not for everyone who was likely to be on the boat. So that would mean paying for five or six and that, for me, would be a significant outlay. It's getting on for the price I paid for my new 6hp aux and given the choice of one or the other my money would go on the aux.
I think if there were other manufacturers making them they would be more realistically priced, maybe £40 or £50 after all, they can't be costing any more that MC helmets to make and CE approved ones of those can be bought for less than £40.

There's a lot more motorbikes in the world than ribs, and almost everyone who rides needs a helmet which increases the market. there are competitors, like gath.

I get where you're coming from, but remember that they're not having to look into the wind/spray/rain all the time and a bit of saltwater in their eye won't be a major issue so maybe for the two front seats? They're legend in the rough. Everything boaty is silly money but I'd buy these at the Ebay prices - not so sure about RRP!
