Not quite a 8.5, but we've got a 6mtr wave rider. It's built like a tank!
Handles every thing I've thrown at her with ease. generally a very dry hull due to the reverse chines, my only grip is that she's got a relatively "low" bow compared to some of the uk designed ribs so you have to be a little more careful not to stuff the nose!
Interestingly it's got coke bottles bonded inside the hull to give extra buoyancy in case she's totally swamped,,,.
It's also got a metal keel strip to protect the hull when nosing up to beaches.
All in all very very pleased with, and part from the low bow wouldn't change a thing!

Ian give me a bell on Tuesday and I can give you the full lowdown. Only two I know of imported into the UK and one of them was stolen. Great boats. Built like a brick out house!

I have a Gemini Waverider 600 too. Mine was built as a search and rescue boat. I can echo the above poster's comments that it is built like a tank. I agree also about the slightly lower bow, but I've been in some pretty rough chop and its never been an issue.

Mine has twin 90hp yamaha 2 strokes. She's very agile and fast, but also surprisingly economical and quiet as 3,200 rpm has her flying along.

Gemini build the zapcats as well, the only company to offer them in hypalon. Generally they're considered the toughest of all the brands making thundercats, although slightly heavier
