Going over transom recommended weight

Hi!

Rigging a new boat and the engine I am planning is about 25kg over the recommended transom limit (152kg vs 178kg)

The difference seems somewhat small given the fact its same as mid sized house battery...

Hp rating stays within limit.

What kind of issue could I face?
Insurance already accepted this.

If the insurance is ok with it I think in structural terms no real issues.

Warranty as it is a new boat might be an issue.

Resale could be an issue but that might not be an issue if you intend to keep it

If the insurance have accepted it I doubt you'll have any issues you can always move gear around to compensate if realy necessary

Have your insurance company simply accepted your statement that the boat is fitted with the engine?

Or have you actually explained that the engine fitted is above the recommended weight and they've acknowledged that? In writing.

The insurance company will not have checked the weight of the engine against the recommendation of the hull manufacturer, and you can be sure there will be something in the small print that will get them out of paying up in the event of a claim.

Insurance are always easy-going until it comes to claim time and then they'll beat you over the head with the little details like this. I wouldn't do it, personally.
