Good or bad recovery - you decide!
http://www.rnlivideolibrary.org.uk/g...x?vid=CDUiDUEq
Do you think this is a good recovery or a bad recovery of an MOB?

I don't think they actually wanted to be recovered, so probably an unusual example?

The police should of stood off for 5 minutes to let her 'cool off' a little.
She would then of definitely come quietly !!!

Ideally you'd have them on the Police RIB then transfer but given its a protester the dope would have jumped in again starightaway.
The E class is fitted with jets and can be seen bringing its stern away leaving a space to recover the casualty.
I would say they made the best of a bad situation.

Dodgy recoveries
This one didn't work out so well.
I think it was a case of good heart, but combined services didn't interact well and nearly ended in a huge loss of life. As it was there was one man lost....
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-11984017
This is still kinda fresh, so maybe try keep comments light, just a suggestion.

Good post actually IMO because it highlights a lot of difficulties with who does what in the circumstances. But when people chuck them selves of bridges 'knowing' they will be saved its something I'm getting dubious of hearing about .. was she a protestor or a suicider ?

I don't know, I often get told I'm a bit special
I can see the vid ok but thought I'd go to the home page to see what else is there but I was access denied. I've seen the video's on rnli.org but rnlivideolibrary.org is a new one on me

Judging by the size of her, she wants to think herself fkn lucky that Greenpeace weren't called, they'd have towed her out into the estuary

I'm with Dave, I thought they were taking her out to open water, after clearing her blowhole of course.

I'm a bit surprised to see the RNLI "assisting" with an arrest
If the rozzers wanted her, surely they should have got on with it?
I'm not donating to the RNLI so they can nick folk, porky or otherwise

Its not clear to me that she was arrested, but I think it will be quite normal for anyone the RNLI pulls out the water alive after jumping off a bridge to be placed in the care of the police unless they need immediate medical attention. But the same thing did cross my mind when I first watched it - the police boat was already there, well staffed and presumably with experienced crew on board... why were the RNLI required at all?

Could be that the 999 call went in, both the polis & RNLI were scrambled, polis got there first, just before the cavalry & let the RNLI do what they do best. Horses for courses, if you want someone pulled out of the water, leave it to the RNLI, if you need an innocent man shot in an underground station leave it to the B.I.B.
