Weight distribution on a RIB:
The sharp end of the boat is narrower than the blunt end, hence less material hence lighter
The sharp end of the boat is full of air, the blunt end is full of wood
The sharp end of the boat has an anchor in it, the blunt end has a 'kin great big engine....
I doubt whether there is a RIB anywhere that isn't naturally a bit tail heavy unless you put a whole lot of fat people in the bow?

Stephen,
I agree that many ribs will tend to be lighter at the nose than the tail. But I suggest that ALL planing boats share this characteristic to some extent. However I suspect that the following factors will exacerbate the problem (1) large engine (2) hull length. That it why my wee 4m boat with 20HP engine really doesn't feel like the nose will take off.

Like said above if all ribs are stern heavy or effectively nose light then yours must be! Iimho Surely the only difference between a rib and similar hulled hard boat could possibly be windage?? c of g should be setup on any well rigged boat hard or soft.... Unless the tubes are dragging in the water i suppose!!

codders would love to agree with your comments on your pro sport rib, but after waiting 6 months and 5 failed delivery dates (without CE plate), i had to take my engine and run to another rib manufacture.
I'm not saying anything bad about the boats, and i have heard very good things about the hull, just my dealing with then were not the best.

I agree that forums like this go along way to keeping buyers more in the no about companies would are less than genuine.
As it happen I actually order my boat my pro sport uk, as all the moulds, name and web site where sold. unfortunately the new owner never got any of the CE plating gear, I spoke to him recently with regards to some paper work for the engine and he still hasn't received the CE plate from Guernsey for the boat, that was meant to have been delivered in august 06!
better off out of it me thinks.

I've been skiing and will be back later tonight, but I would just like to say that if anyone wants to try a RIB that isn't "too light in the bow ......... ALL RIBs are the same - mine is probably better than most as I only have 1 engine and I specified the console be moved forward slightly to make the balance better." I would be delighted to prove that not all RIBs are the same - even with a Verado 250 on the back!

I have noticed the slightly further forward consol on mine, but I thought it was made that way to balance the weight of the engine I picked? one negative is that you can't easily walk round the consol to the front because the gap between the tube and consol is just to small to get my brothel creeper through, so have to either walk on the tube or squeeze the foot through. I little off target in this thread,just thought I'd mention it.
