You can be as grumpy as you like...no-one dares to cross you
Freedom to make own local rules - breach of which can now be criminal offences
Licence to make money from harbour users / visitors
Employment of aged volunteer jobsworths who shout at people for doing more than 3kts (unless commercial fishing /Grockle boats)
Don't actually provide adequate / useful facilities for Ribbers

Or....
You can work very hard to make your harbour a friendly place with the facilities people want (e.g. adequate walk ashore short term visitor pontoons etc...)

Could be a great job - in addition to the hours!

Will there be local harbour users on the interview panel???

I could walk to work! Parking spot in the middle of town if it's a bit wet - loads of space to park the race boat :-) Historically a Navy background has been an advantage in getting this position ..............

And the collective noun for a group of habour masters is a "pleasantry"

In summary a very lovely bunch of people

The head of Air Traffic Control at Manchester Airport gets at least double that of his counterpart at Exeter Airport (nearest to Salcombe).

Yeh but Manc airport is much larger and busier than Exeter
