If I had to hazard a guess I would say the SOU 510253 was the Lloyds Register number and plan / build approval was carried out by the Lloyds office in Southampton.

The 85 could relate to the year.

I really couldn't hazard a guess. At this moment in time, it's worth £58 to someone and hopefully, for you, the value will creep up before the end of the auction.

It might be worthwhile contacting Lloyds because if my hunch is correct , they may be able to shed some light on its original history which may increase its value.

I've had a re-read of this and as the boat is in Suffolk and you're in Ireland, I suspect I'm wrong in my thought it is yours - apologies for that.

To be honest and for this sort of thing, the purchase price is almost irrelevant. You will be bidding against others where the value to them will be based on their desire to undertake a project.

£400 vs the £10k (or much more) cost of the project is almost insignificant.

I'd set your limit and try to avoid going over it but for me, when I'm all excited about doing a project, I find that discipline very difficult! It's something I'd hoped I'd grow out of but unfortunately not.

Good luck.
