Helmet for boating

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a helmet for boating? Quite like the idea of having a visor and perhaps the option for wireless crew communication within the helmet.

Best regards
A.

Gecko gecko....first discovered them in the Solent last March; force 5-7 whilst doing my APB course in the rain, in 1.5m waves. Make sure you get the full length visor though or you'll get a mouth full!

You'll get various opinions with justifications here. You should find discussions if you search the forum.

Personally, I use a flip up motorcycle helmet.

Gecko seems to be the most popular.

Similar to Gecko and meeting the same standards are these ones:

Gath is another one.

Making a Gecko look like a bargain are:

I prefer the Gath as the visor is internal when not needed.

I also have a couple of non visor lids that I combine with clear work glasses and this combination works well too.

Is it just to have a hard hat to keep head dry? Or are you at risk of head injury? Or a racing requirement?

Another vote for Gecko. You’ll see them used by independent lifeboats, the RNLI, the navy etc.
