Help!
(I hope I've put this one in the right place!)
Currently doing research for another film - we are looking for a piece of water with the minimum dimensions of - 150' X 100' X 6' deep - the tricky bit is it needs to be covered! If anyone has any suggestions you can reply here or email me at cookee@bananasharkracing.com or phone me on 07836 268747 and sadly exotic locations in far flung countries are no help - it has to be the UK!
Any help is appreciated,

Pinewood studios Bond set was reputed to be the largest indoor Wet set ever built. Don't know if its still there, or if you could get access.

resevoirs?man made are the only things that spring to mind (if you are talking in feet) unless you check out Southampton Institute tank test facilities or a Olympic size swimming pool

You could try the Royal physics labs at Hampton sorry no contact details. There was also a place near Heathrow, they tested the dam busters bomb there if some someone knows name i will ask around.
Good luck

Pinewood would be great but my colleague is familiar with all of thier facilities and they havn't got what we're looking for ............... Test tanks are too narrow and so are swimming pools ............. Resevoirs don't usuall have roofs over them unless you know different? ................ The Physics lab prbably isn't 100' wide and I wouldn't have thought you could get it for a few weeks! ........... The Dam Buster test place could be perfect though?
We need 30' of headroom above the water as well!
Not asking much am I?

I actually know nothing about the movie - however camera angles are often achieved by using camera cranes which are remotely controlled and need the headroom - ok?

How's about Devonport dockyard? Huge sheds and they are up for a bit of PR now and again especially as your fairly local.

Interesting If you can't find the right place have thought about covering a lake with a clear span building http://www.star-hire.com/Introduction/orbit/orbit.html

Not sure if this is a daft suggestion or not, but is a covered drydock big enough?
MDL in Plymouth have got covered docks big enought for destroyers.
There are also other shipyards that are desperate for work / might have space avaiable.
The RAF / RE have just tested a scaffolding hanger that they can put a Caberra in, might be an idea also.

Cookie,
Have you tried the RNLI at Poole? They have a new facility, which I have been told is large enough to roll a life boat.
Worth a try.
Cheers.
Ian.

Cookee, try Qinetiq, I used to work there and they have various test tanks onsite at Haslar in Gosport look at the following link, last paragraph for dimentions 120x60x5.5 metres deep. They also have a wave maker as well. They do work with Southampton University and develop race going yacht hulls, so there's a chance of a private rent.

Whitlingham little Broad is next to our boathouse (just outside Norwich). It's less than ten years old, we train beginners (rowing) on it. Not very deep, and not very big either! There's a boatyard next door with cranes and things too. PM me if you want some photos or details.
Edit: Didn't read the bit about it needing to be covered. Ignore.....
