Help in finding model and age of Gemini rib

Hi all, I'm wondering if any has much knowledge on Gemini ribs. I have recently picked this old girl up as a project but don't not much about it at all or Gemini ribs for that matter.
So really the first question is can you tell from the serial number what model it is and what year it was made? Any other great advice on Gemini's would be handy too. The tubes don't stay up for longer than a day and to be honest I feel that they'll probably need replaced as opposed to trying to tidy them up and seal them but that will be price dependant and whether it's worth doing on the value of this rib when complete.
Look forward to hearing your views and info. Regards

This looks like a 470 wave rider
but they are only rated to 70hp.
So from the plate it could be 550 Wave rider - it would be rated to 115 hp.
Just doesn't look long enough. How long is it?
Does it have a stainless steel keel guard?
Can you post a picture of the deck?

Hi and thanks for your time, I've been out and ran a tape measure and the deck from transom to tip is about 4.1m. The tubes are totally flat now so hard to get a fairly accurate measurement of the tubes but roughly from transom to the end of the cones is about 0.7m and there'll be a bit more length from the tip of the hull to the front point of the tubes at a guess so its more than 4.7m assuming thats what the 470 translates too but may not be as long 5.5m.

There is a keel guard on it which has been painted so assuming it will be stainless as you mentioned.

Is there a database of serial numbers anywhere that you know of?

Here are a few more pics if they are any more help.

Tube Diameter 460 mm
Weight 220 kg
Max. Load 1080 kg
Max. Pax 10 ppl
Max. Power 115hp
Rec. Power 90hp

WaveRider 470
LOA 4.7m / 151⁄2’
L I 3.44m / 111⁄2’
BOA 2m / 61⁄2’
BI 1m / 31⁄2’
DR 22°
TD 460 mm
Weight 150 kg
ML 1050 kg
M PAX 7ppl
M PWR 70 hp
Rec Power 90hp

Sounds to me like you have a 5.05 m
The boats have great lay up.. capable (more capable than the drivers )
The SS Keel strip is a big plus in everyday use.
Check the baffles are still up inside the Tubes, mine were blown when I picked up the boat
and the seams had also blown in a few places so I retubed mine.
Check if it has one of those captive ball deck drains in the transom, and make
sure you replace it or remove it - they are not so reliable.
Have fun with it - should be a great boat when you fix it up.

A bit late coming to this conversation...

You could also contact Gemini Marine in South Africa. I sent them a photo of the plate on my transom along with a photo of the boat and they confirmed the year of manufacture for me as well as sending me a Buoyancy Certificate with a photo of my RIB on it.

Hope this helps.
Richard

There is a photo of a 25 year old Gemini 500 with a similar plate on the Gemini Marine Boats Facebook page.
