Hi Jon,
Welcome to RIBNET.
Where do you launch from ? If you use the Solent post on here when you go out and maybe a few of us could meet up.
You can't go wrong with the SR 5.4. What engine do you have ?
I'm also looking at a wakeboard or some other sort of toy at the moment. Have you any tips on what wakeboard to buy. I'm really thinking decent but cheap.
Regards Nick R.

Hi Nick,
I launched at mudyford quay last time ...cost £10.50. Where do you launch and how much do you pay. I have a heavy trailor so otor launch is best for me i think. my motor is an old mercury 80hp 4cyl 2 stroke, its about 1988 so i need to build my confidence in it, it went well when we took it out last week tho.
I am new to wakeboarding too, so im not the one for advise im affraid. ive been 2 or 3 times but its a scream once your up......once your up eventually in my case.
what craft do you have?

If your looking for somewhere to wakeboard there is a area in 'lee on the Solent' which you can use, there is a slip there too which is free but often very busy and it can be a bit of a job in rough weather, if you would prefer a quieter slip we use Haslar in Gosport which is very calm although you do have to pay for parking.

Jon,
Get the radio ticket done. At least you'll know how to use it properly and won't be using the wrong channels. You'll also need to register the radio with ofcom. That's free but awkward.
My preferred slip is Warsash. Mainly due to cost and having somewhere to tie up whilst your sorting the car. Downside is its a little mucky and can be very shallow at high tide.
Fire away with the questions. In my opinion you should post on here when you want to got out or keep an eye on the cruising posts and see if anything suits you. The Priory Bay Picnic is the next planned cruise, but people are putting up smaller cruises all the time.

Hi Jon
Just up the road from you in Amesbury. Wick lane slip is far better that Mudeford, and just next door to our school. Launch free just pay to park the car. Once out thro' the run plenty of opportunity to ski and board, not the I do knees are shot. Enjoy the SR there great boats

It was yesterday. Bit far for you to trek from Salisbury though. Wouldn't Poole be better. Nos4r2 could advise you on Baiter slip in Poole harbour.

Brian,
Is this the slip. And how much is it to park the car and trailer ? Also how long does it take to get out to sea ?
Cheers Nick R.

Nick, Thats the badger, Trailer is Free, car park I believe is £3.50. Trip to sea is a very pleasant 15-20 Min. Advantage is a lot of it is brakish water so you get a free washout of the engine.

Its a very good slipway and apart from the parking its free, i ve used it 100's of times without any bother, just keep an eye on your depthsounder going down the harbour.

Do you have to split the car and trailer or can they stay together ?
Also is it an all tide slip ?
I'm considering using this slip so I can venture farther West.
Thanks for the advice guys. Its appreciated.

Nick, Yep you do have to split the outfit, trailer in the trailer park and yep youve guessed where the car goes. If you take up a car space with the trailer then you pay double. The slip is all states of the tide, however at low water there is a large'ish drop off, but there is a way around it with a 4be. I.E you use the beach on the down stream side works for us all the time. If you need any more info please get in touch.

Brian has answered most of your questions there, at low tide there is a very large drop off, but I have recovered there at low tide but I wouldn't recommend it to people new to the area.
Trailer goes in the trailer park and car in the car park, slipway is wide enough for two to lauch at a time, but in the summer months there is occasionally a que.
