Highfield 540 DL build

With absolutely no marine building experience, but plenty of Landrover rebuilds, I' m about to start assembling my new Highfield. Trouble is the hull is stuck in Essex and I cant afford the engine yet! At least I can plan how to fit the console which I've got home. First stage is to strip it ready for painting satin black...then to cut some holes for all the bits I hope to get once Covid restrictions allow. I'm going to be relying on RIBnet for advice, so please be kind!

It's a 16 reg allegedly!

You may find it easier to do a lot of the console fit out before it goes on the boat.

The planning is quite good fun particularly as it only costs you time rather than loads of cash. The loads of cash bit comes shortly afterwards.

I will be looking out for a Yamaha 115 extra long shaft...which is the max for the 540, but it seems these engines second hand a hard to come by!
