Holiday cottages
I can anybody recommend any holiday cottages in Scotland or Wales ideal for a rib. We are 2 adults and 3 kids and 2 dogs, we have stopped at Salen on Loch Sunart for the last 4 years and would like a change if there is anywhere as nice. :-)

A bit further to travel but this place on West Coast of Skye has parking for several ribs. There are 2 separate pet friendly houses with mature gardens. A slipway 2 mins away.Hotel with real ales and food 100m away. They also offer 10% discount to Ribnetters.

Is Helen farm is right on the Menai & two minutes walk from Ty Calch, where Chris will be able to work his launching magic. The link is for the caravan site, but they also have a couple of cottages.

We have stayed in a fantastic house called Tighnacreagan which is next to the Salen pontoon which is were I moor my rib. It's really great which makes it difficult to go anywhere else.
I've attached a view from the patio it really is a little bit of heaven.

Just a thought, would it not be worth making this a "sticky" I know Im always looking for places to visit and if another Forum member has rated it well it does make a difference to me. Regards Jim

All threads kind of become "personally sticky" if you just use the search box We already have a lot of stickies and their value is diluted everytime we add another.
I personally don't think a "where is there a cottage in the UK close to the water" thread is particularly helpful - and that is despite the fact I regularly look for that sort of thing! There are too many variables: location, size of boat / car for launching, number of people to accommodate, budget, facilities v's peace and quiet. A long thread, especially one with the usual banter and subjective opinions is probably not the easiest way for the uninitiated to find what they are looking for. It would also likely become a target for self promotion by new members.

Poly, yep points taken. I really had not thought about it in the depth that you have but as you point out there are too many variables. Still just a thought. Regards Jim

We have a cottage to let on Seil Self Catering Holiday Cottage Accommodation on Seil Island Argyll Scotland but sadly no dogs in this property .
As others have suggested , its a good base for a rib . Try Easdale island where there are dog friendly and rib friendly properties to let both on Easdale Island or nearby Elenabeich Seil.

If you are happy with a remote location have a look at Ellary estates...
Holiday cottages
We've had a few holidays there and it's a unique place. Boats can easily be launched in a small sheltered bay (estate owner will do this for you if you don't have a 4WD) and then located in the estate's private stone harbour for the duration of your stay.
Loads of places to go from there... either large or small scale adventures depending on your wish.

Sorry for a wee bit more 'self promotion' but we rent our old house near Plockton. Plockton Accommodation - Rowan Bank Holiday Homeonly 1 week left in June.
We have mooring which will take a big boat (first guests this year using it for a 35 foot motor boat next month) and used to keep our rib on it - you would need a tender. Plockton round in the next bay has pontoons and very easy to launch. You can launch next to the house at high tide - not the easier but what I normally do.
If you don't stay with us but in the area and need some advice just ask.
