Holiday - Lake Annecy
Hello all
Myself and family are driving down to Lake Annecy in August in one of my VW California's, for a weeks holiday. We are taking our Valiant V400. I know we have to have adequate insurance, which we have, but what else do I need? I have booked the mooring for the week. Do I need to register the boat with SSR, and I'm being told by some that I need to take proof of purchase etc.
I've driven abroad loads, at least twice a year for the last 10 years, but never towed a boat.
Thanks in advance
Oli

I would get the ssr and icc and tell your insurance and they will send a cover note for the period you are away

Hi Oli,
Lovely idea, also talking about doing the same thing, and then some time up the mountains. I've only ever camped or stayed up there, in either Coumbloux, or St Gervais, which has the most stunning view of the mountains, but a way from Annecy.
How did you book a mooring ? Who did you do it through ?
Cheers

What's icc?
And we are leaving the boat at doussard on the trailer on a dry mooring, for approx 30 euros a week, all the wet moorings were booked, but they are 65 euro. These prices are for a week. We booked it directly.

Thank you. I have the British water ski, ski boat driver certificate. I've also done RYA powerboat 1 and 2, rescue boat and PWC, but cannot locate these certificates. I'm sure I won't need the ICC?? what do you think?

Not sure the French are funny when it comes to paperwork you can get copies of your certificates only going on what I was advised. .

On a slightly similar note, do the RYA keep track of certificates that are issued?, Ive also moved house recently and have "misplaced" my certs ...
I also was told that you can get a free ICC if you join the RYA (and have the Level 2 Cert).

The RYA haven't got records of any of my certificates! It was 20 plus years ago. But I have my sailing instructors certificate somewhere and that is enough to get an ICC. I've also got my ski boat driver certificate and I've emailled the port to see if that is enough to drive on the lake.

I've hired boats on Lake Annecy a few years ago and they didn't ask for any marine qualifications, only some Euros.
