Horsepower

I was moored up by the quay at Wareham on Sunday when someone came up to me having been looking at the back of my engine.

He said, "Is that the horsepower?" "Yes" I said. "Same as in a car?" He asked. "Yes same as in a car" I replied. "Good grief", he said walking away shaking his head, "my mate will never believe me".

I had that Sunday - its that really XXXhp? didn't realise they made outboards that big!

Looking at your profile that is a lot of horsepower! I might have been shaking my head as well.

First boat I waterskied behind had a Merc 50 on. Had to have the spotter on the foredeck to get it to plane. The world's gone mad!

My first boat ( 21ft teal ) had a pull start merc 50 'brown band' , took us from Cowes out past the nab tower fishing a few times . Before ribs I ran a phantom 20 with a race tuned 280 sat on a lifter, that was quick (90mph) but it did scare me a bit!! and not the most family friendly boat! Lol
