Not adding much to this, but took my 3.4m zodiac out from Harwich today, its only 9.9hp but the tiller extension has made a massive difference to it, on my own it flys along now, have the bench seat in the front position and can sit on that, it took off a wave today, scared the complete c#@p out of me when it landed, I never felt confident with it before, now it has given me so much more confidence in it, £25 well spent.

My old RIB with a 6 HP planed OK with me and just barely with either a 50 pound dog or a child. One more adult and it was done for. 10 HP will help and so will playing with prop pitch. At this low HP weight is critical so a 2 stroke will be better.
