How do I make my waterproof hatches waterproof??

Right usually my boat in in a shed with it's full cover on.

But the last week she has been in the marina, so the cover can't be put on. But not having a automatic bilge pump I have been down everyday to empty her out.

But my bow locker (anchor locker) has no means of drainage, so fulls up. The 'waterproof' hatch has a seal and all, so what can I do? Oil it in some way? Maybe a bigger rubber seal?

Any comments please?

Thanx Lee

Hi

What kind of hatch is it?

On my boat I'm using hatches with positive locking devices, they keeps the water out. But can be expensive.

And make sure the framing for the hatch is glued with sikaflex or better, to the boat.

Hi

Just found this on 'Boaters WEorld Wide Browser:

http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/leeh/default.htm

The first article is about making windows and hatches waterproof. It may be of some help to you Lee and of interest to the cabin rib owners.
