How Heavy?

This maybe a silly question but.....

Thinking of changing my car and new car will tow 2000kg max trailer weight. Any ideas on approx weight of Avon 5.6, 90hp honda + trailer in total?

Also if I upgrade to a larger rib, then what is the maximum size boat / engine combination that I could approx tow?

2000kg is quite alot - what car is it?

A 5.6m with a 90 hp should be no more than 1000kg on its trailer.

Never trust a teenage quantity surveyor! I would think your bote wouldn't be more than 999kg.

you'd get a 7.5 with a big outboard in under the 200kg limit.

So that'll be the fastest 7.5m around....At 200kg .

My 5.5 with 90 Merc 4 fully laden with full tank is about 800kg's I recon.

My 7.5m Tornado with 200hp Opti, all kit on board, full fuel (200 litres) and trailer weighs in at 1700 kg (checked on a weighbridge).

Off the top of my head our Avon 560 with a honda 90 comes in at around 750/800 kg with a full tank of fuel

Cheers Nick-bloody hell. I wouldn't bother with one as a tow vehicle at all then.

No way you'll get up a slip with 1000kg in tow with 2wd....and it'll be bad news on a clutch with no low range even if it HAS got 4wd

They did make a 2 wheel drive version ('it didn't sell well). I think on the basis that the people who bought them "thought" they needed 4 wheel drive.

Land Rover do know however how to make a nice looking car!

Yes, sorry - prev post should have been low range / diff lock, not just low range! - I think on the RR it was on the one lever which did High/Low and Diff Lock. I do understand the significance.

I love using low range - even on the road - great for creeping in traffic jams and annoying people on steep hills!!!

I guess the fact the spring broke on the second occasion is that the elastic had perished!

Update:
Now you just couldn't make this up...........

We often have a neighbours dog visit us when he goes for too long a walk and we get a phone call something like "is harry with you", well that happened tonight and the neighbour called to say they would come up in the car to fetch him.........

40 minutes later the neighbour calls: "Sorry I'm not with you yet but the Range Rovers broken down - I'll get a friend to come and get the dog"

You just couldn't make that up - could you !

Whilst some of the previous Toyota Rav 4s were FWD only the new one you are referring to is selectable 4WD, hill decent control on autos. After a flick through the car mags, it has selectable 4WD and the 2.2 D4D diesel 180 is actually 175BHP which should be enough for the slip way and has 295lb ft of torque from 2,000rpm, also useful. Received a good report from What Car, and has Toyota reliability and quality, no hard core offroader but would definatly do the job on the slip way fine IMHO.
