There are lots used Ribs advertised on Rib.net but just curious how many are actually sold through this forum?
Any thoughts?

hmm not sure, however I put my last rib on boatsandoutboards.co.uk (for free) as I was bored and thought why not...
Within 2 days, my local sea cadets had contacted me and they bought it off me ( I let them have it for £300 less than I had put it up for though) They decided to buy it as it had clearly been looked after and didnt have any marks on the hull etc. I even drove 12 miles with it for their committee to look over it. Trusted me so much they didn't even want to see the engine running...!

I saw my Shearwater advertised on here - and bought it .
I have also sold a Topper on boatsandoutboards easily .
I have sold & bought various 'stuff' via that section of the forum.

Smaller stuff seems to sell quite easily on here. Bigger stuff less so I have found. That said trying to sell any sort of reasonably sized RIB is quite difficult at the moment. I normally find boatsandoutboards is the best place.

I sold one of our boats from here last year, took hours from time of posting. Like anything if you price it correctly it will sell.
There is IMHO many boats avertised on here that are wildly over priced and therefore do not sell. This is of course the same anywhere.

It depends whether the rib is any good and sensibly priced. You're more likely to find a mug buyer on B&O than on here, if that's what's required.

Couldn't agree more. Local classifieds still work, as people aren't prepared to travel - only to be disappointed because of someone's inappropriate description of 'mint condition!'

If the seller has been a member on here a while then you may find info on the boat in the forum.

I have bought (x1) and sold (x1) on here.
Plus bits and pieces section for smaller stuff.
Worked well for me.

Many thanks for your comments.
I advertised the RIB here six months ago. It is well spec'd and from a reputable builder.
Not really what you would term a ball of s**t*. It is also with two brokers.
In that time there has been zero response.
Not even a tyrekicker or an East European wanting to pay by money transfer!
Perhaps the spring will see a bit more movement in the market.
It seems that RIBs up to about 6.5m is shifting ok.
I was wondering how others were getting on with their sales.
Cheers

Eugene,
I have no idea how well or badly your RIB is priced - but worth bearing in mind that the EUR-GBP rate means that to a 'british' buyer your boat will seem 30% more expensive than a year ago; and to an 'irish' buyer british boats will seem 30% cheaper. I've certainly noticed quite a few boats priced in Euro's over the last year that made me say "how much". I'm not saying your boat IS overpriced, but there is no doubt that there will be a price which makes it more attractive to a wider audience.
What's your broker doing for his money?
Is it in your/him interests for it to be advertised with 2 brokers and elsewhere?

If you want to sell at this time of year, it must be keenly priced.
I put my Valiant on here at £1500 under what a broker said he would sell it at in the summer and got one contact through forum, but sold it locally through word of mouth, in less than a week.
