Expansion rates

Heating the boss with a hot air gun will do the job as the alloy has a different expansion rate to steel (much higher) so as they both grow the alloy will grow more for given temprature rise.

If that does not work cut it off !!

I'm in agreement with this approach - not worth the risk . Its a cheap (relatively ) replacement, and its pretty important it works ( all the time you are out)
