HP ratings / insurance / sale

Hi, I'm looking at a Rib that's rated for up to 150hp but has a 175 two stroke HPDi fitted at the moment - if I purchase this boat would it be technically uninsurable? What about resale - would it present a problem then and put off potential purchasers? It's a used boat, just don't want to be stuck with it.

Look forward to hearing people's opinions?

Jim

Not uninsurable. Harder and probably more expensive to adequately insure.

Resale... ...you are asking the question as a potential buyer so will future potential buyers.

The 175hp is likely the same block as a 150. Just change the stickers or cowling?

If it has an accident, a fire, major leg damage, or is stolen and recovered then you can expect someone to inspect and examine the wreckage with the aim of avoiding a payout understanding the loss. Even the serial number on a claim form would be a give away.

At that point they will decide you intentionally mislead them, and you can foget any payout.
