Bit of advice

Hi,

Recently picked up this SR4 with a previous repair. It sat proud of the rest of the gelcoat and was very poor as can be seen in the pics 1 and 2. It was glassed from one spray rail to the other, you can see the split in the fourth pic. Any ideas on the best method of repair. The surrounding looks good just the hairline in the middle?

Many Thanks,
Mark.

That looks like it's split up the kelson best repair would be lift the deck and glass up from inside the foam of the Kelson will probably be wet and require removal then dish out the outside and build up level with glass and patch in the gel coat.
Alternatively dig out from outside and repair from outside only but it will always be weaker than an internal repair

The hull repairs should always be from within and external mono fiberglass resins with fibers

The pictures confused me. Before ripping up the deck, is
There an inspection hole or could you make one in deck. Min 6 inches to get a good look and potentially glass through. Once your on the inside you can see if that's just gel damage or a full depth split. Anything substantial will need an inside repair as others say. How big is that crack?

Hi Flash,
As it is a flooding hull, at the transom there is a large hole. If you look into it you can see a split.

If you can work through the hole to repair from inside then great but you'll need to be a bit inventive to work through such a small hole
Alternatively if it's got the buoyancy module in the stern you will need to chop out a large section of floor in order to take out the module complete or you will need to destroy the module
You need to do more investigation with a torch and maybe a mirror on a stick to see what's inside the flooding hull
