Hull Repairs ??
Have today been to see a possible new boat , however there are significant cracks on the hull flange where it joins the main hull.
My thinking is it will need the tubes off , damage removed and new flanges scarfed onto the hull - but its going to be the full lengh of the hull (pretty Much) ....have to say the tubes are great having been put on a couple of years ago .
Whats peoples view on buying aboat with this kind of damage (both sides) ...mine is at present ...RUN.....
The secret network of RIBNET is coming into play to see what this sort of stuff would cost on a 6m boat.....

This happened to my old 7m Solent. Was only really an issue towards the front, the forward 2 or 3 meters from memory. Had it repaired by Ribshop, and the bill I think was around the £1200 mark which included a couple of other small-ish bits (that was probably about four years ago). And yes, it did involve the removal of the tube (just the front half on my one).
Depends on what the boat is, and how much it is I guess! If it was a nice boat and a bargain I would get it and have it repaired.

I'd get some photos up and ask mr Biffer very nicely for his honest appraisal.
Not sure if he's up to taking that sort of work on but he's done some excellent and very reasonable work for me

Cheers guys. There are a couple of other things that are making me want to walk away to be honest.
I'd happily hand it over to Biff to sort, but dont want to buy a boat and then not use it .
anything is fixable but there is the cost and also the hassle to take into account.. !

Pete i agree with you, i would buy something to use now don't know how big a job it would be but you may not get much use out of it this year with our short boating season/weather

Thing is it's a cheap boat for what it is...and just what I'm after....4 seats, 4 stroke engine, capable not to big not to small etc.....a real dilemma.....

Sampled one of Biffer's Tetley's today while a horse broke in his workshop and ate a wind turbine
Happy days!

That's a rc 585 I won't be owning...for 12k plus the fix... :-(

12k plus all that work doesn't sound like much of a bargain to me unless its a lot newer than '04.

I've seen what people want for RC585's when sorted, but whether they get it or not is another matter.
That's a lot of money for a 9 year old stolen/recovered boat.

It is - but I'd not have paid that much for it . by all accounts he turned down 11.5k from a guy in Sweden - but that could well have been a line....I told him he should have taken it !
Oh well on to the next - maybe one of the banana boys will sell me of thier for 10K ?.......

Last year (feb 2012) I sold my '05 RC585 for £15k. Boat had done around 130 hrs, trailer had been professional rebuilt the year before when I'd had it converted from disc brakes to drums, boat was pretty much fully spec'd and the Suzuki df140 was only 8 months old (25 hrs use).
If I'd wanted to wait I could probably have got another £2k for it but the one you looked at looks pretty expensive to me.

Interesting - I'm sure the right one for me will pop up at some point in the next 12 months ! Until then small is the new big when it comes to boating ....
Simple cheap fun in the bombard all the way !!! ( even after its fixed its still going to be cheap as chips ! )
