THE TUBES ARE COATED IN A RUBBER COMPOUND CALLED HYPERFLEX.THIS IS A NEW PRODUCT ON THE MARKET AND IS AN EXCELENT FINISH.REASON FOR THIS APPLICATION IS THAT THE BOAT WAS LEFT UNDER TREES AND HAS STAINED THE TUBES.
