I am confused!

I am intending to sell my fibreglass fishing boat and am downsizing to a RIB. I have started searching numerous RIB websites and find it impossible to 'isolate' a 3-4m Rib with a console and 20-35HP outboard and in particular to get even a 'ballpark' price.
I have no dealers in reach and at this early stage of my search do not want to get involved with salespeople and their pressures via email or phone.

I also wonder about buying a second hand hull (only), and a new engine to make sure of a reliable engine (I am mechanically inept).
I would very much appreciate any comments and advice

you could start here Ray unfortunately you will have to travel to find the right boat unless you're very lucky.

Ray I assume in you initial comments you mean you want to buy new and investigate online without speaking to sales folk?

I guess much of the issue is in the UK a RIB of that size is not so often fitted with a console unless a posh yacht tender style like the Zodiac at a massive price...

In fact sub 4m most inflatable smallcraft are more usually SIBs anyway. However have you considered Highfield alloy RIBs? The bigger RIB guys seem a bit anti sometimes but in the sub 4m range they look quite useful...

Classic 360 deluxe - Highfield Boats

Re the salespeople you only have to say no... but you might find they are easier able to advise on what's available than just looking at websites.

This month’s powerboat and rib mag has a review of small ribs with prices “as tested” as well as bare hulls. I have to say none of them struck me as a bargain. Outboards are expensive and buying a used hull and rigging it with a brand new engine isn’t necessarily going to be a low risk solution - any hull than needs a new engine probably needs new electrics, possibly new steering and quite likely has old tubes... if you aren’t technically handy paying someone to do those things may make this an expensive project.
