I.C.E.
No not that cold stuff that we are used to in England, but....
"International Canoe Exhibition"
Its on this weekend at the NEC birmingham
http://www.bcu.org.uk/ice/canoeing_2002.htm
You also get into the The National Boat Caravan & Leisure Show for free which is on at the NEC aswell!
I know its not RIB - but I'm sure they will have bits and pieces for sale - eg wetsuits dry sacks etc.
Cath (my wife) will be manning the Environment Agency stand if anyone makes it.
I will be going on Sunday if anyone wants to meet up I will check this thread tomorrow.

Are you looking for anything particular?
If you go tomorrow (Sat) maybe you could post a message to tell us all what its like.
If you go Sunday - then maybe we could meet up - I don't think there's a Guiness stand like at LBS though
Just ask for Cath on the EA stand - I won't be far away!!

Would have loved to go to the show, but there is a large Boat Jumble day at Malvern on Sunday - so have already agreed to go there.

Malvern is near Worcester - about 45 minutes further on from the NEC.
The Boat Jumble is at the 3 Counties Showground and is supposed to be huge - I hope so anyway as I want to get a lot of kit for my new boat - ropes, fenders etc.
Apparently there is a mix of new stands (Compass, Nautequipe etc) and second hand kit

My mobile number is 07900 278436 - if you go to Malvern ring me and we may be able to meet up.
We are aiming to be there for 10 - but have to be away by around 3 I think

Caravan, Boat & Leisure Show - ICE
Jools,
I went today (Saturday). It was very good.
I got my 2002 Alamanac and some other books i needed from the RYA, also 2 x 23 litre fuel tanks at a very reasonable price - i'm all fuel'd up now - can carry 70 litres.
Abersoch Land & Sea had a good stand in partnership with Ribeye and Yamaha was also good they had the new -
60hp Fours stroke on display !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you have a good day tommorrow.
Regards

Not at all - they were £17.50 each (i got the last two) but i later found them for £15 each @ towsure - www.towsure.co.uk (mail order though).
You still have to buy the connection from the tank to your fuel pipe normally £2.50 each but they were out of stock, so i popped in to my local marina on the way home and paid £5 each - DOH!
Still good value though, in my opinion
What are you doing for fuel tanks? in the new one? Built in or seperate.
Regards

I have a built in tank in the console tht holds around 30 gallons.
However, an advantage of the Honda is that it has a standard clip on fuel pipe - where some others are permanently fitted - so I can strap a couple of spare tanks to the transom, and just clip them on if required for longer journeys.

Yep, I went on Sunday - apparently it was much busier on Sunday - according to Cath.
Anyway - yes I thought it was very good - didn't buy anything RIB related, but got a towsure catalogue and it looks like they do a nice anchor for us smaller ribs - see the website.
I think Keith made it aswell - well I think I found his boat

I wish I had been on my boat on Sunday as I was actually out on my motorbike. It was sooooooo damned wet that it felt like I was out in the boat!!!!!
Cheers

Hi JAHNO
I've just been out for a run on my motorbike. Not for any particular reason. Not to to any particular place. I went out on my motorbike just because I wanted to. I wanted to go for a quick run on my motorbike because I enjoy riding it. I also use it to go to work (day job). Sometimes it is raining and I could go in the car, but still I go on the motorbike. Why? Because I enjoy riding it.
I enjoy the fresh air. I enjoy the feeling of freedom. I enjoy getting through the traffic quicker than in the car. I enjoy it because it is exciting. I enjoy getting dressed up to ride the bike. I enjoy the fact that people think 'bikers' are a bit wild.
You know, I enjoy riding the motorbike for just about the same reasons as I enjoy my boat. Perhaps that's why so many Ribsters have boats and bikes!
The bike. Well, up until about 10 days ago I had a Triumph Trident. I sold it and brought.....wait for it.....a Royal Enfield Bullet 350cc single!
Of course this reminds me that another simmilarity bikers and boaters have is that they tend to be a little eccentric.
Regards
Keith (flies on my teeth) Hart
