I need advice on a new boat!

Hi,

I have the possibility to get this boat for 4k$ (i'll need to sell my sib)

It is a zodiac 420 yachtline with a 1991 50hp 2 stroke yamaha.

Is it a good boat? What speed can i get with that? Is that enough to ski?

Thanks

That looks like a Novurania from the pictures.

50hp on a 4-5m boat will get you up to about 27 to 35 mph depending on how it is loaded and propped.

Seller is definitely wrong. Make sure it's not a scam.

The price is market average for an old Great Lakes region RIB.

Be sure to inspect the cone seams on the underside of the boat in the back, they tend to get torn up with underinflation damage.

As mentioned above That's a Novurania not a Zodiac and it maybe made with PVC tubes and not Hypalon like a good Zodiac so that should definitely effect life span & value if the tubes are PVC.

There seems to be a lot of disregard to the condition of the tubes and there material in North America.

Tube repair or having to get new tubes for a rib in NA is far from cheap ($$$), a lot of the times it can be more than the value of the boat itself so buyer be aware and do your research.

Make sure the tubes have lots of life in them.

If your taking this rib on lakes in Ontario make sure that you can use a non-direct injected 2 stroke as a lot of lakes will soon enforce only allowing 4 strokes and Direct Injected (Evinrude Etec). Most likely not a problem just mentioning it since your near the border and there's a million lakes just to the north of you.

Also, be aware that the trailer looks out of balance and will require the axel to be moved aft for more tongue weight (not a big deal). Proper tongue weight is roughly 10 to 15 percent of the total loaded trailer weight.

Prices of ribs in North America are a bit out of control for what you get compared to the Uk. $3K US dollars is not terrible just make sure the tubes are good and if your buying in the states, make sure you can get the trailer across the CA/USA boarder. CA boarder guards have a severe hate for US trailers with a passion.

Novurania only built CSM tubes from Pennel & Flipo Orca material.
