Next time try spinning tight circles in the non frozen water and the waves will break up the ice. There were some crazy wakeboarders that had to clear a private lake that way. It also sends the ice onto the shore.

You'll need a bigger boat to do that here in Yellowknife, the ice is 1.5 to 2m thick right now.

Indeed. We had exceptionally warm and short winter time. Normally at the same place there is also +1meter ice this time of year...
