If you down to Leith this weekend you might get a big surprise!

This might be in wrong section.

I got a phone call from Zapcat Racing today looking for Marshall Boat this weekend at Leith Docks, they now have this sorted.

BUT....ZAPCAT's in Leith Docks!!!!! Whooo hoooooooooo , sounds like a weekend out to me !! There racing both days Saturday & Sunday..

I just been told Braehead in Glasgow is next race in 3 weeks time....

S.

In Leith Docks.

Practice: 1100 hrs Racing: 1200hrs - 1700 hrs

from there website:
Edinburgh Grand Prix - Leith Docks - (Rounds 11 & 12) August 22nd & 23rd

Another first for Zapcat Racing - Leith docks, the main port for Edinburgh with the Royal Yacht Britannia as a backdrop and the Scottish Parliament just around the corner - we have a large expanse of water to race on so expect a technical course.

Leith is a thriving area of Edinburgh, mixing trade and commerce with leisure and entertainment thanks to developments in recent years. There are numerous pubs and restaurants on the waterfront and the cuisine offers fresh seafood cooked in true Scottish style. Tourists come in huge numbers every year to board the decks of the Royal Yacht.

The racing coincides with the famous Fringe Festival so expect quite a few spectators and a lot going on including an evening party for competitors.

We popped in yesterday for part of the afternoon (it certainly made the shopping experience more enjoyable). I've got quite a few pics - so will try to find any more interesting ones and post them up tonight.

Because it is all contained in the "harbour" it means the action is fairly close in - although there is obviously no breaking surf for real drama!

For anyone who can't be there in person then the zap cat racing website has a live video stream. Would certainly be more interesting than the politics show or whatever is normally on then!

Edit - and if anyone is going today then the forecast is not so good - but I think you should get a good view from the cafe/bar in the Omnicentre with a pint in your hand!

I took 177 photos so if anyone was racing and is looking for a shot of their boat let me know and I'll see if I have one (hopefully not too blurred!).

Here are a few to give you a flavour...

Not sure how this happened - but the rip was from bow to stern and through the internal baffles as well - so guess it ruined someones racing for the weekend...

This happened a few years ago when I watched on the south coast. The hulls are pumped up so hard that they "pop" badly.

The one we saw hit a trailer after the shore break took it 3 foot up the beach.
