ive got 2 spare palouste engines and a RR viper sitting in my fathers garage ...the paloustes would go in a treat .....i bolt them to the floor and use 30' cable when i run them(just in case) ....the viper is quite scary when you get it past 3000rpm's but the paloustes you can sit a cup of coffee on when idling

that one wasnt mine....looks identical though ....these run upto 30,000 rpm and idles around the 21-22 mark ....the viper is a different beast altogether ....really scary when its running up .....it took me ages to pluck up the courage to run it past 3000 rpm ....even then it was still scary ...i hooked them up via a dash i got out a victor bomber ....getting the fuel solonoids in the correct sequence was the hard part ....fuel everywhere and the igniter gives a horrendous crack when trying to ignite it .......
my paloustes run lovely ...they were auxillary motors off a 1960s aircraft ...cant remember what it was though ....they do also use them in choppers but fuel efficiecy made them obsolete...
JW .....i know what you mean when a blade goes .......we have lost a few blades over the years on our LM5000 turbines .....a complete an utter arse collopsing moment when they go especially if your within a short distance of it.....took me nearly 3 hrs to calm down after one went quite near me.... that was my first ever, still dont like it when they go.....hence when i run the viper its with a long lead and i'm behind an adequate barrier
Hey Gordon I noticed you have not posted any updates on the USA site's I'm sure they would be very interested in hearing about a single engined Ilmor RIB doing in excess of 90+mph
As they use Gas turbine engines in the USA in their pleasure and race boats makes you wonder what happens if it lets go while your mored up at your favorite eatery...does it dust everyone with shrapnel...risky
